The Chicago White Sox try to avoid the sweep in the season finale against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.
The Milwaukee Brewers go for the season-series sweep against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon. This is the first and only series of the season between these interleague foes. This series hasn’t really even been all that close through the first two games. The Brewers dominated on both sides of the ball on Opening Day, Thursday. Jacob Misiorowski struck out 11 batters while only giving up a run in a 14-2 victory to open the season. The White Sox bookended their runs in the first and ninth innings on two homers, but that was the only thing to write home about in the lopsided loss. Chicago’s offense did not rebound in Game 2 on Saturday, losing 6-1 to Milwaukee, who went on to win the series. Garrett Mitchell had two singles, two RBIs, and stuck with the theme by stealing two bases to lead the Brewers’ offense. The only offense for Chicago came on a fourth-inning homer by first baseman Munetaka Murakami, which was the lone blemish in an otherwise strong start from Brewers righty Chad Patrick, who went 4.1 innings. Murakami also homered in the opener. Chicago needs to find their offense outside of the solo home run and string some hits together if it is going to avoid this sweep on Sunday.
