Earlier this week, the Twins made a roster move by signing Drew Smith to a minor league deal.
Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic wrote (on March 29): “Twins signed veteran relievers John Brebbia and Drew Smith to minor league deals. They’ll join Triple-A St. Paul’s bullpen.
Brebbia is 35, with 378 innings across eight MLB seasons.
Smith is 32, with 196 innings across six MLB seasons. He’s coming back from Tommy John surgery.”

Smith was picked in the third round of the 2015 MLB Draft.
He last pitched for the Mets during the 2024 season.
That year, he went 1-1 with a 3.06 ERA in 19 games.
Ryan Shenker of TheNatsReport wrote (on March 28): “Drew Smith had a perfect ERA for the #Nationals in Spring Training. The #Twins take advantage of his availability, signing a low-risk deal with a player who tends to limit loud contact, something Minnesota already did well with in their Grapefruit League games.”

Over 191 career games, Smith has gone 12-13 with a 3.48 ERA.
He could be a very intriguing addition to the Twins organization.
