McKenzie Leighty drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Chapman Lady Irish softball team to a 19-0 three inning win over Herington on Friday. Leighty tripled and singled in Chapman’s 12 run first inning enroute to run rule the Railers.
Jai Rogers also tripled and drove in four runners from the lead off spot in the batting order. Anna Martinez, Jacey Shippy and Callie Cook all had three hits in the shortened game, The Lady Irish busted seven doubles in the opener.
Kaylee Livingston pitched the opener, going three innings of no hit, no run ball while striking out three.
Jai Rogers belted three homers and drove in five runs in game two as the Lady Irish pounded 17 hits and scored 17 runs to win their second three-inning game 17-0. Kennedy Scholz drove in three on two hits including a triple. Teagan Ellis and Kyah Bell both had two hits driving in two. Martinez and Ellis also had two hits, each with a double.
Olivia Harold pitched game two, striking out eight and walking one without allowing a hit.
Chapman is 2-0 in the season and will host Clay Center Tuesday.
