The rain was falling at Great American Ball Park on Saturday around 5 p.m., and the field was still covered by a tarp. Not long after, officials announced at 5:30 p.m. the game was tentatively set to start at 7 p.m., only 20 minutes after the scheduled start.

The 7 p.m. start made fans deal with a rain delay for the third straight day.

The Reds and Washington Nationals were scheduled to play Saturday at 6:40 p.m. Either rain or drizzle is forecast from 5 p.m. through 11 p.m., with percentage chances for both at above 90% throughout that window.

Cincinnati is scheduled to send starter Nick Lodolo (3-2, 2.25 ERA) out against Washington right-hander ‘s Trevor Williams (1-3, 5.70 ERA).

It’s also “Star Wars Night” at Great American Ball Park, and a crossover Reds/Star Wars-themed bobblehead is being distributed at the entrance gates. Lines for that were already forming around 3 p.m. as the rain pelted down.

The Enquirer will update this page with official notifications on the status of the game, as well as fan advisories from inside Great American Ball Park.

Rain has been problematic for the Reds all week. A Tuesday game against the St. Louis Cardinals was postponed and moved to Wednesday, when the teams played a doubleheader.

Thursday saw the Reds and Cardinals sit through a 1:37 rain delay, and Friday saw the Reds and Washington Nationals wait out the rain for 1:51.
