The Colorado Rockies will continue their road trip in Toronto on Tuesday night to take on the Blue Jays in the second game of a three-game series at Rogers Centre. The Blue Jays come into the second game with a record of 3-1 following a tough 14-5 loss to the Rockies in the series opener on Monday night. The Blue Jays opened the season with a sweep over the Athletics, outscoring them 16-11. The Rockies picked up their first win of the season with Monday night’s victory and they now sit at 1-3. Colorado will look to keep momentum rolling and work their way back to .500 in this young MLB season.

The Blue Jays gave Monday night’s start to Cody Ponce who went 2.1 innings, striking out three batters and giving up one earned run. Louis Varland came in to relieve Ponce and was credited with the loss after 1.1 innings of work in which he also struck out three batters. Jesús Sánchez led at the plate for Toronto, going 2-for-4 while Davis Schneider led the team in scoring with two RBI produced from a two-run shot to left field. Andrés Giménez, Kazuma Okamoto and George Springer each homered in the game, as well.

The Rockies put the ball in Tomoyuki Sugano’s hand to start the game and he went 4.2 innings, striking out four batters and giving up one earned run. Chase Dollander took the win on the mound, throwing for four innings and giving up four earned runs from three homers and tacking on five strikeouts. The Rockies racked up hits in the win, finishing with 17. The team was led by Ezequiel Tovar and TJ Rumfield who each recorded three hits and combined for five RBI on the night. Braxton Fulford and Troy Johnston were the only two players from Colorado to hit home runs in the high-scoring victory.

On Tuesday night, Colorado will give the start to right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner while the Blue Jays will give Max Scherzer the ball. Both pitchers will hope to bring their best in their first starts of 2026 to remain firmly in the rotation.
