Well of course the A’s would begin their 2026 season with a four game skid. The first season sine 2021 that had any bit of real promise behind it, albeit with plenty of caveats. It’s almost like they’ve been spooked. I don’t know by what, but maybe the stage they found themselves on last Friday, in front of a roaring fanbase that had a world series win taken from them, proved to be a heavy reminder that they were still a ways away from being involved in any serious conversations. That yeah, the A’s clubhouse might be finding itself in a new tax bracket, but what has there been to show for other than the glow of individual performances?

On the bright side, they’ve been hanging…somewhat. Just a handful of innings can be held responsible for this winless record. A routine pop fly caught, a few less walks, have meant the difference defensively. Pair that with the offense’s stage fright and their willingness to swing at anything – – the product is spoiled potential.

Thankfully, this team knows how to lose. it’s all they’ve done since COVID. And after the haunting that was last May, I feel confident that the A’s can come back from anything. Even history saying they can’t.

It’ll all make the winning stretches feel that much sweeter, right? When we can all look back at how much this core has endured on their path to a playoff appearance.

Just as long as they don’t forget how low the lows have been. That’s all I ask.

A’s vs. Braves tonight.

Aaron Civale looks to make his first win in an A’s uniform, the team’s first win of the season.

This has to be a prophetic image that people will point to when things shift.

Am I onto something or on something??

Having to explain to all your friends and family that your favorite team is currently historically bad…

Shoutout too @NBCSAthletics for understanding the tone.
