The Dodgers are still among the top teams in baseball at drafting and developing quality talent, and the latest rankings prove why.
It’s now officially April, and the last remaining notable free agent is still on the market. Lucas Giolito was far too productive last season for no team to take a chance on the former All-Star starter.
Is it time that the big, bad Los Angeles Dodgers swoop in and sign the 31-year-old pitcher?
Austin Owens of FanSided.com seems to think so, as he predicted the Dodgers could make a move to sign Giolito in the near future, and would anyone really be surprised if Los Angeles does pull off this deal?

Will the Dodgers Sign Lucas Giolito?

The Dodgers already have one of the best rotations in MLB, but considering the team’s high spending habits, there’s no telling what move they may make next.
A more realistic landing spot for Lucas Giolito would be the Los Angeles Dodgers,” wrote Owens. “It’s not like Giolito is looking for a record-breaking contract but most teams may not feel he is worth a risk. We all know the Dodgers have no issue spending money and he would provide them with some much needed depth in their rotation.
The MLB writer makes a great point: the Dodgers do not need another ace; they have two (maybe three) in Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani.
However, at this point, with Giolito’s free agency market gaining no traction, the Dodgers might as well make an offer.
In 2025, Giolito pitched 140+ innings to the tune of a 3.41 ERA. He missed the last month with a hamstring injury, which is likely the reason teams have been so hesitant to sign him.

What is Lucas Giolito’s Market Value?

According to Spotrac.com, Lucas Giolito’s current market value sits at $61 million over three years.
It’s become very clear at this point that no MLB organization is going to give Giolito an AAV deal of $20 million, because they would have done it already.
What’s more likely is that Giolito signs a one-year deal worth $10-15 million with a new MLB organization and proves his worth from there.
The Dodgers being a newfound landing spot for Lucas Giolito is now good news for the rest of MLB.
