LAPWAI — The Pirate softball and baseball programs both notched league road wins against the Wildcats March 26 with a 24-6 final for softball and an 11-0 final for baseball.
In their first league win of the season, the Lady Pirates pulled away from the Wildcats with a stellar 9-0 third inning after leading a tight first and second 4-3 and 2-2. Prairie used the momentum into the fourth inning, where they outscored Lapwai 9-1 and sealed a mercy rule victory.
Bats were led by Erica Schlader, with a double and four RBIs, and Hailey Hanson who smacked a triple and added three RBIs. Kenly Forsmann and Audrey Warren also both chipped in three RBIs, with a team total of 16 RBI on seven hits.
Prairie also pulled in a nearly perfect .929 fielding percentage with a single error all game and were led by the single pitching efforts of Catherine Seubert who had eight strikeouts.
The baseball program slowly but surely carved out their second league victory with the win against Lapwai, spreading out their 11 runs through seven innings while holding the Wildcats to zero with a .955 fielding percentage with a singular error.
The runs were made on nine hits, including three doubles from Levi McElroy, Kade Quintal and Isaiah Warrant, and a team total of seven stolen bases.
The mound was led by Devon Poxleitner who had nine strikeouts, followed by Cooper Riener (four) and Austin Labrum (three).
Upon their return from spring break, both programs travel to Nezperce April 7 to take on Lewis County.
