Denver buzzes with vibrant events this April weekend, featuring the Rockies’ return, Red Rocks concerts, Shen Yun performances, and a unique sober dance party.

DENVER — From festivals and fairs to shows and baseball, there’s lots to do, see and explore in Denver and Colorado this April weekend.

Downtown Denver will come alive this weekend as Coors Field bustles with the sights, sounds and smells of summer as the Colorado Rockies return to Blake Street “Shen Yun” and “Disney on Ice” take the stage, while the Colorado Mammoth, Denver Nuggets, and Colorado Avalanche host games this weekend.

Red Rocks hosts concerts, an Easter Sunday sunrise service, and a sober daytime dance party. Two farmers markets are also ready to open for the season and a break-dancing competition comes to Denver.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Colorado Rockies

DENVER — Colorado Rockies baseball is back at Coors Field. The Rockies’ 2026 home opener is Friday at 2:10 p.m. against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Rockies have a six-game homestand through Wednesday, April 8. 9NEWS will be covering the Rockies’ home opener live from Coors Field on Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. First pitch Friday is at 2:10 p.m. on 9NEWS.


Red Rocks Easter sunrise service

DENVER — The 79th annual Red Rocks Easter Sunday Service will be held Sunday. Thousands will gather at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sunday for an outdoor church service to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. The service is free and open to the public. You do not need to reserve a seat to attend the service, as general seating and parking are available on a first-come basis.

Red Rocks concerts

DENVER — Red Rocks Amphitheatre kicked off its 160+ date concert schedule last weekend. The best venue in North America is adding more shows to the calendar with performances planned into November. John Fogerty, Kali Uchis, Ty Myers, Lily Allen, Dermot Kennedy, Ty Myers, Jade Cicada, and Mickman are among the artists who have tickets going on sale this week for shows at the iconic Colorado venue.

Daybreaker dance party

DENVER — A sober dance community will hold its 1,000th worldwide event at Red Rocks on Easter Sunday. Daybreaker announced it will host a sober daytime dance party at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sunday. The event will begin with yoga at 11 a.m., followed by a two-hour dance party at noon. Daybreaker said the event is its first-ever daytime dance party at Red Rocks. Tickets are sold at AXS.com starting at $41 for yoga and dancing, or $31 for just the dance party.

Shen Yun

COLORADO SPRINGS — Experience a lost culture through the breathtaking art of classical Chinese dance, and see legends come to life. Award-winning dance company Shen Yun returns to Colorado Springs this weekend with its blend of colorful costuming, high-tech backdrops and live orchestra. Shen Yun has three performances planned from Friday through Sunday at the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts.


Disney on Ice

LOVELAND — Disney on Ice returns to Denver with “Road Trip Adventures.” The show will be at Blue Arena in northern Colorado for six performances from Thursday through Sunday. The show features Mickey Mouse and his friends visiting Disney destinations with characters from “Toy Story 4,” “Moana,” “Frozen,” “Aladdin” and more. Tickets are sold at AXS.com.


Red Bull BC One

DENVER — Red Bull BC One, the world’s premier breaking competition, is coming to Denver on Friday at Boettcher Concert Hall. The free, all-ages event will feature top B-Boys and B-Girls competing in 1v1 battles, with winners advancing to the national finals. Red Bull BC One Cypher Denver will feature a top 16 B-Boy bracket and top 8 B-Girl bracket, composed of prelim winners and wildcards, hailing from all across the country. The event will also feature a first-of-its-kind performance between Eligh, of celebrated underground hip-hop group Living Legends, and world champion turntablist Chris Karns. Collaboration Fest 

WESTMINSTER — More than 160 craft breweries will be pouring over 120 beer collaborations on Saturday at Collaboration Fest. From 2 to 6 p.m. at The Westin Westminster, breweries will collab on limited-edition beers available for the annual fundraiser, which advances the Colorado Brewers Guild’s mission to promote and propel independent craft breweries. Attendees can purchase early entry, general admission, and designated driver tickets via the Collaboration Fest ticketing page.


Las Vegas Desert Dogs vs. Colorado Mammoth

DENVER — The Colorado Mammoth are back in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) playoffs for the first time in 3 years. Having clinched a playoff berth, the Mammoth have one final regular season game on Friday at Ball Arena against the Las Vegas Desert Dogs. The game begins at 7 p.m. Friday in Denver. Tickets start at $34 at Ticketmaster.com.


San Antonio Spurs vs. Denver Nuggets

DENVER — The Denver Nuggets are also back in the playoffs, having clinched a spot for an eighth-straight season. The Nuggets bring the excitement of “Mile High Basketball” back to Ball Arena Saturday afternoon. The Nuggets host the San Antonio Spurs at 1 p.m. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster.com.


St. Louis Blues vs. Colorado Avalanche

DENVER — Ball Arena closes out its weekend slate with the Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues. Having clinched a position in the NHL playoffs, the Avalanche will be ready for their 7:30 p.m. game Sunday. Tickets start at $60 at Ticketmaster.com.


Boulder Farmers Market

BOULDER — Summer farmers market season is nearly here and the Boulder Farmers Market is ready to jump the gun. The Boulder Farmers Market opens this Saturday at 8 a.m. on 13th Street between Canyon and Arapahoe. The Saturday market will be open through October. 


Longmont Farmers Market

LONGMONT — Come see what’s fresh at the historic Boulder County Fairgrounds. The Longmont Farmers Market also opens Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be weekly live music, kids crafts and play spaces through November.


Taste of Vail 

VAIL — The 35th annual Taste of Vail runs Wednesday to Saturday. The event combines local Vail flavor with top chefs, artisans, experts, and food enthusiasts from around the globe. Dinners, wine tastings, beer samplings and food experiences are scheduled through Saturday.


The Phantom of the Opera

DENVER — The North American touring production of “The Phantom of the Opera” concludes its run at the Buell Theatre on Sunday. Isaiah Bailey, who performed the national anthem at a Denver Broncos game in September, will star in the touring production. Considered one of greatest musical productions, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The Phantom of the Opera” score includes “The Music of the Night,” “All I Ask of You,” “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again,” “Masquerade” and the title song. The production features the original Broadway design elements, including the iconic stairs and chandelier. “The Phantom of the Opera” will be at the Buell Theatre through April 5.


The Wiz

LITTLETON — “The Wiz” is the newest production at Town Hall Arts Center. A soulful reimagining of “The Wizard of Oz,” the musical follows Dorthy’s journey with songs such as “Ease on Down the Road” and “Home.” The Tony Award-winning Broadway classic plays through April 19. Tickets are available at TownHallArtsCenter.org.


Cirque Italia

AURORA  — Have you ever imagined a country boy’s adventure from farm life to the bustling lights of the big city? Cirque Italia will present its new production in Aurora this weekend, from Friday through Monday. The show features a story about Rafael, a farm boy swept away by a tornado who lands in the heart of a city’s chaos. The water circus will be at Town Center at Aurora beginning Friday.


The World’s Largest Dinosaurs

DENVER — The Denver Museum of Nature & Science has opened its newest exhibition. “The World’s Largest Dinosaurs” explores the biology and anatomy of sauropods, the largest land animals to ever walk the Earth. The exhibition features a life-sized model of a 60-foot-long Mamenchisaurus, the head of a Argentinosaurus, interactive exhibits, and museum specimens. The exhibition runs through Sept. 7.


Brick Planet

DENVER — Sculptures built from more than 1.5 million Lego bricks are part of temporary exhibition in Denver. “Brick Planet: A magical journey made with Lego bricks,” is open at Denver Museum of Nature & Science. The new exhibition was created by artist Sean Kenney who served as a guest judge on the reality show “Lego Masters.” Guests also can build their own brick creations, sketch in journals and play a magnetized game. “Brick Planet” will be at the Denver museum until May 3.


Glowing Wild 

DENVER — Glowing Wild at Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance returns for its second year. Colorado families are invited to travel the world in a single evening, from the forests of Asia to reefs of Australia. Guests will experience 60 illuminated scenes and 175 new larger-than-life lantern sculptures that bring animals and their stories to light, all handcrafted by Chinese artisans. Tickets are available at DenverZoo.org for the event, which runs through May 10.


Seven Falls

COLORADO SPRINGS — The Broadmoor Seven Falls, the “Grandest Mile of Scenery in Colorado,” has opened for its 143rd season. The Colorado Springs waterfall will initially be open Friday to Monday with expanded operations coming later in the spring. With a series of seven cascading waterfalls and a total height of 181 feet, visitors can view Seven Falls from the top of a 224-step staircase or from the Eagle’s Nest viewing platform accessible by elevator.


Movies this weekend

Last weekend, “Project Hail Mary” stayed aloft in its second weekend, holding strongly with $54.5 million and adding to the long-term prospects of the year’s biggest hit thus far. “Project Hail Mary,” which cost nearly $200 million to produce, didn’t face any significant new competition and kept premium format screens largely to itself.

This weekend, though, it will face stiff competition in “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” It’s expected to have the biggest opening of 2026.
