Tacoma and Yakima are hosting the three-day state track and field meets beginning Thursday.

High school sports is almost in the books for the 2024-25 academic year with the state playoffs for golf, softball and tennis wrapping up last week. This week, we’ll see West Sound’s best in baseball, boys soccer and track and field compete in state tournament action.

The track and field championships are split into two locations. Klahowya (1A) and Crosspoint Christian (1B) will be competing in the three-day 1A/2B/1B meet at Eisenhower High School in Yakima beginning Thursday. Start times for competition are 4 p.m. on Thursday and 9:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. South Kitsap (4A), Central Kitsap (3A), Bainbridge (2A), Bremerton (2A), Kingston (2A), North Kitsap (2A), North Mason (2A) and Olympic (2A) will be competing in the three-day 4A/3A/2A meet at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma beginning Thursday. Start times for competition are 1 p.m. on Thursday, 9:50 a.m. on Friday and 10:20 a.m. on Saturday.

Bainbridge’s baseball team, which captured a pair of victories at home last Saturday in the 2A state playoffs, faces off against Selah in the state semifinals Friday at 4 p.m. at Joe Martin Stadium in Bellingham. Anacortes and Othello play in the other semifinal game at 7 p.m. The winners face off in the championship game Saturday at 7 p.m. The losers play in the third-place game at 1 p.m.

Bainbridge and North Kitsap will meet for the fourth time this season in the 2A boys soccer semifinals at Federal Way Memorial Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. Columbia River and Sehome play in the early semifinal at 5 p.m. The championship game is Saturday at 5:30 p.m., while the third-place game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
