The Washington Nationals and lifelong fan, Sorcha Lewis shared a festive 21st birthday celebration with a ceremonial first sip.
WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals celebrated their birthday on Saturday, April 4 at Nationals Park during home opening weekend in style.Â
On April 4, 2005, the Nationals played their first game as D.C.’s team and on the same day, lifelong Nationals fan, Sorcha Lewis was born.Â

With the help from Budweiser, the Nationals and Lewis celebrated their 21st birthdays. Before the start of the game, Lewis took the mound with a Budweiser in hand, raised a toast to 21 years of Nationals memories and led fans in a ceremonial first sip. Lewis also received a special surprise video message for her birthday from her favorite Nationals legend, Ryan Zimmerman.

The Nats celebrated their 21st birthday with party hats, Budweiser giveaways, live music and a special happy birthday sing-along during the game. On opening day, there was also a photo opportunity for fans to snag pictures with the famous Budweiser Clydesdale in Center Field Plaza.Â
However, some of the weekends festivities were dampened as the Los Angeles Dodgers take a 2-0 series lead during the Nationals home opening weekend. After suffering a 13-6 loss on Friday, the score was almost identical on Saturday, 10-5.Â
The Dodgers scored in almost every inning besides the last two when they were up by 10 runs after Kyle Tucker hit a single that gave the green light for Alex Call to score. The Nationals had cold bats until the third inning when Luis Garcia Jr. sent a triple to right field, allowing Jacob Young to score. But by then, the score was 6-1 and the Nats went on to score just four more runs.Â
The Nats fall to 3-5, 0-2 at home. They’ll get one more crack at the 2025 World Champions on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1:35 p.m.Â
