AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – Eric Bach is taking over as the Sod Poodles play-by-play broadcaster, replacing Zach Goodman, who has been called up to the Colorado Rockies.
Bach is coming to the Soddies from the Fredericksburg Nationals, the Single-A affiliate team of the Washington Nationals. He was with the Fred-Nats since 2023 and was named the Carolina League Broadcaster of the Year by his peers in 2024.
Tony Ensor, president and general manager of the Sod Poodles, said the team has a unique legacy with its broadcasters.
“We know we have a legacy here at Sod Poodles Baseball where all of our previous broadcasters are now broadcasting in the major leagues,” Ensor said. “No other team in America can say that.”
Ensor said no other team among all 120 minor league teams can say every broadcaster in their history has gone on to broadcast Major League Baseball.
“I told Eric, please do not break my streak of major league broadcasters,” Ensor said. “I’ve got a pretty good feeling that streak will continue because this guy is very talented.”
Bach said the opportunity at HODGETOWN fits his career goals.
“What they’ve built here is such a great brand,” Bach said. “I mean, it checks all the boxes of, as Tony likes to say, it’s a major league experience on a minor league scale, but it’s also super community-based too.”
Bach said he has a dream of broadcasting Major League Baseball.
“You have to work your way there and there’s just no better place to do it in minor league baseball than right here at HODGETOWN and Amarillo,” Bach said.
