Ukiah 5, Vintage 3

In an NBL-Oak/Vine Valley Athletic League crossover, the Wildcats (10-4) scored four runs in the third inning Saturday to take the lead for good and hold on against Vintage (6-8) in Napa.

Robby Corippo had three hits, a double and a pair of RBIs to lead Ukiah at the dish. Ollie Adams, Chase Galletti and George Gibbs added two hits apiece.

For Vintage, Sam Mautner had two hits, with a double, and two RBIs.

Montgomery 1, Maria Carrillo 0

In a classic pitchers’ duel, the host Vikings (5-8-1) found the game’s lone run in the third inning as they won on the same day the school honored longtime coach, athletic director and teacher Russ Peterich by naming the baseball field in his honor.

With two on and nobody out in the bottom of the third, Montgomery’s Adam Cramer hit into a double play but scored Justin Howard from third base for the only run the Vikings would need.

For Carrillo (5-7), Ben Stark was superb on the mound, allowing just that one run on six hits while striking out six. Monty was paced by the duo of Benny Olivarez and Brandon Lozinto, who combined to allow just three hits.

Casa Grande 14, Tamalpais 4 (5)

The Gauchos (9-3) went up 6-1 after two innings as they cruised to a nonleague win Saturday in Marin County.

Casa, which totaled 13 hits, took advantage of seven errors by the Red-Tailed Hawks. Five Gauchos had two hits, chief among them Tyler Pelissetti, who delivered a home run and collected two RBIs. Logan Gard had a triple, while Jack Mountanos and Jesse Sanchez added doubles. Brayden Garibaldi totaled three RBIs on the day.

Pelissetti, Sanchez and Les Hellman combined on the mound to allow three earned runs on six hits while striking out one batter apiece.
