TORONTO—After completing a three-game series sweep in our national capital, the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers will continue their six-game road trip in the country where they were crowned champions: Canada.
The Dodgers and 2025 American League champion Toronto Blue Jays will meet in an early-season World Series rematch, with the Dodgers looking to extend their happy memories north of the border while the Jays look to avenge their fallen hopes from last Fall.
The Dodgers are riding high this season despite inconsistent offense to kick off the young 2026 campaign. After dropping two of three against the Cleveland Guardians, the Dodgers responded well in D.C., taking all three games to improve their record to a dominant 7-2.
The same can’t be said for the Blue Jays as they’ve hit the stuggle bus since their opening series sweep against the (Sacramento) Athletics, dropping two of three to the Colorado Rockies and getting swept out of town by the Chicago White Sox.
The Dodgers will send a pair of familiar arms to Toronto, with lefty Justin Wrobleksi set to get the spot start on the road trip, and 2025 World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto and four-time MVP Award winner Shohei Ohtani will follow.
While it’s only an April series, tensions are expected to be high, and players and fans alike will be paying close attention to this matchup. Will the Dodgers extend their winning streak in Toronto, or will the Blue Jays get some clarity?

Who’s In & Who’s Out
Despite a sweep in Washington, D.C., the Dodgers suffered another major setback on the injury front, losing All-Star Mookie Betts for likely 4-6 weeks due to a right oblique strain.
Betts was removed from Saturday’s game during the first inning after scoring on a two-run RBI double from Freddie Freeman and possibly tweaked it during his check swing in the first at-bat of the game.
In Betts’ absence, the Dodgers have recalled fan-favorite Hyeseong Kim from Triple-A, and he’ll get to share time with veteran infielder Miguel Rojas at the position.
Staying on the infield, Tommy Edman and Kiké Hernández are both progressing well for a late-May return per Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, in what would be an added boost to an already injury-riddled core.
On the pitching side, right-handed relief pitcher Brock Stewart has returned to Arizona to progress in his shoulder rehab and could face hitters this road trip before heading on a minor league rehab assignment.
Left-hander Blake Snell threw a successful bullpen session on Friday at Dodger Stadium and was set to throw another one yesterday. After that, Roberts stated Snell will face live hitters.
Day-to-day (00):
10-day IL (2): Tommy Edman, Mookie Betts
15-day IL (4): Blake Snell, Landon Knack, Brusdar Graterol, Brock Stewart
60-day IL (5): Kiké Hernández, Evan Phillips, Bobby Miller, Gavin Stone, Jake Cousins
The Blue Jays head into their series against the Dodgers carrying a crowded injury list. Addison Barger is day-to-day after jamming both ankles on a play in Chicago, while catcher Alejandro Kirk is out indefinitely with a left thumb fracture.
On the pitching side, Trey Yesavage continues his shoulder rehab and could return later this month, but Cody Ponce may miss the entire 2026 season due to an ACL sprain.
The rotation remains thin with Shane Bieber and José Berríos both working back from elbow issues, and reliever Yimi García progressing through bullpen sessions following elbow surgery. Toronto also faces a long-term absence of Anthony Santander, who is recovering from shoulder labral surgery.
With so many key pieces sidelined, the Blue Jays enter the Dodgers series leaning heavily on their depth, creating an early-season test against one of baseball’s deepest rosters.
Day-to-day (1): Addison Barger
10-day IL (1): Alejandro Kirk
15-day IL (4): Yimi García, Shane Bieber, Trey Yesavage, José Berríos
60-day IL (3): Anthony Santander, Bowden Francis, Cody Ponce
