ATLANTA — Roman Anthony remains in Worcester as of early Friday afternoon. But the Red Sox are calling up another member of their Triple-A roster to join the club in Atlanta.

Boston is promoting right-handed reliever Nick Burdi on Friday, multiple sources told MassLive. The corresponding move is unknown but because Burdi has been in the minors for fewer than 15 days since being optioned on May 20, it’s a safe bet that a pitcher will be placed on the injured list before first pitch.

Burdi, a 32-year-old journeyman who signed a minor league deal with the Red Sox at the beginning of spring training, will be active Friday night against the Braves. This stint is his second in the big leagues this season; he logged 2 ⅓ shutout innings in two appearances against Atlanta on May 16-17 before being optioned back to the WooSox on May 20. At Triple-A, he owns a stellar 0.48 ERA (1 earned run in 18 ⅔ innings) while striking out 26 batters. He has allowed 10 hits and walked just five batters in 15 appearances.

“He did a good job,” manager Alex Cora said of Burdi’s brief MLB stint. “He wasn’t throwing as hard as he did in Triple-A but he got people out. Now, he’s in the mix. He got optioned. He’ll be here at one point. He’s going to contribute just like Zack (Kelly) and some of the guys. To have him in the organization and available at one point, he’s gonna help us.”

Boston’s series with the Braves begins Friday night at 7:15 p.m. ET. The game is on AppleTV+.
