Check the back-to-back off Jason Adam’s rehab to-do list.
The 34-year-old reliever walked two but pitched a scoreless inning in his first back-to-back appearance on Sunday in Triple-A El Paso’s 6-5 loss at Tacoma.
Adam is continuing to work back from last year’s season-ending quad surgery. He has turned in three scoreless innings on his rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso and could be activated as soon as April 8, although it’s possible the Padres way until they return to Petco Park on April 9.
Left-hander JP Sears struck out four and allowed three runs on four hits and four walks in 4⅓ innings in the start. Left-hander Jackson Wolf (0-2, 7.11 ERA) allowed a run in 1⅔ innings in relief to take the loss.
First baseman Marcos Castañon (.965 OPS) went 2-for-4 with his second homer and first double. Center fielder Jase Bowen (1.023 OPS) went 2-for-5 with a triple. Left fielder Samad Taylor (.766 OPS) drove in two runs on three hits.
El Paso is 5-4.
