José Soriano continued his dominant opening of the season, allowing just one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts in Los Angeles’ 6-2 win in Monday night’s series opener. It was the first run allowed by Soriano in three starts this season, while Zach Neto and Jo Adell homered for the Angels, who scored three runs in the fourth inning on a walk, hit by pitch and infield single, all coming with the bases loaded.
Chris Sale struck out seven in four-plus innings, taking his first loss of the season after coughing up six runs on five hits. Both of the Braves runs came via the solo home run, with Drake Baldwin connecting in the first inning and Mauricio Dubón going deep in the ninth.
Left-hander Yusei Kikuchi (0-1) gets the start for the Angels on Tuesday night. He’s allowed seven runs in 9.2 innings and comes off a 6-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. Right-hander Reynaldo López (1-0) allowed one run on four hits in a 17-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks and has surrendered only two runs and seven hits in 11 innings over his first two starts.
