Coming into the 2026 season, the pitching staff was not a concern for the Miami Marlins. Even after trading Edward Cabrera and Ryan Weathers over the offseason, the starting rotation was still going to be strong.Â
Sandy Alcantara has looked elite in his first few starts, but he is not the only one. Eury Perez still has some issues to work through, but he has been generating a good amount of strikeouts, just like Max Meyer.Â
But with an elite starting rotation must come an elite bullpen, and Miami’s stable of arms has been one. With Pete Fairbanks in tow, they are leading the NL with their 2.86 ERA.

Marlins are finally finding the power to match their elite pitching
What has held this team back in the past is the state of the offense. However, with a few new additions, the offense is finally catching up to the state of the pitching staff.Â
Xavier Edwards currently leads the club with his .432 batting average and .462 OPS, while Liam Hicks leads the club with three home runs and 12 runs batted in.Â
This has been a reason for their 6-4 start heading into Tuesday, which is good enough for a tie for first place in the NL East.Â
This isn’t a team you will want to sleep on, and Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter currently ranks them as the 11th-best team across MLB.
“The Marlins ranked 20th in the majors in slugging percentage last season, and finding enough offensive thump to support a quality pitching staff has been an issue for years. It’s no coincidence that they have climbed to fourth on that leaderboard so far this season, and are now knocking on the door for a spot inside the top 10 as a result.”
Miami has not been to the postseason since 2023, but if they keep this up, it’s going to be hard to deny them a spot.
