KOOSKIA — Clearwater Valley High School senior Barak Meyer, son of Jim and Elizabeth Meyer, is Ram of the Week for his work as a pitcher on the CV baseball team.
“Through eight games this season he’s batting .368 with two doubles, two triples and a home run. As a pitcher, he’s thrown 9.1 innings and leads the team with 22 strikeouts,” wrote head coach Josh Bradley.
Baseball is Meyer’s only sport, and when he is not pitching, he plays first base. Meyer enjoys spending time with the team, going to away games, and the connection to the community through baseball.
“It’s fun to go out there and represent your community,” said Meyer.
Recently, the team hosted its fifth annual Southfork Slugfest.
“The second day, I didn’t hit the best, but I pitched really good. I had 11 strikeouts in 4.2 innings,” said Meyer.
His goal this season is to win state, ending his senior season on a high note. For support, Meyer’s dad and his sister, Margaret, are his top supporters, along with the community.
“My dad is always at my games, he tries not to miss any, and that’s a lot of support,” said Meyer. “Also, my sister always records me, and then the community around baseball is really close, so they’re always telling me good game; they’re always there talking to me.”
