Chase Petty was dominant again on Tuesday night in the Louisville Bats win, Alexander Vargas had a perfect night at the plate in an extra-innings win by the Chattanooga Lookouts, Jacob Edwards had eight strikeouts in relief for the Dayton Dragons, and Jacob Friend got on base four times for Daytona.

Through Friday the 10th I will be including the Top 25 Prospect Rundown here on the site and game notes, but after that if you would like to get that each and every day, you can get it emailed to you every morning during the season by signing up at Patreon and helping support the site.

The Louisville Bats won 8-1. Box Score

Game Notes

Chase Petty was dialed in, much like he was in his season debut and very much not like what happened in his second start of the year. He struck out nine batters on just 86 pitches in his 6.0 innings. He only gave up one hit and it turned out to be the only hit of the game for Indianapolis – a triple in the 2nd inning. He had 16 swinging strikes in the game and multiple on each of his five pitches. As things stand right now, Petty’s 19 strikeouts are the best in the league.

Hector Rodriguez got on base three times in the game and kept his on-base streak alive at 10.

JJ Bleday’s double extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Blake Dunn got to experience what might be a first of the season – he challenged a strike call in the 1st inning but as they went to the review they realized that the ABS system was not working and so the call on the field stood. The system remained iffy for the top of the 1st but was working the rest of the game.

The Chattanooga Lookouts won 5-4 in 10. Box Score

Game Notes

Chattanooga led 3-0 heading to the bottom of the 2nd, but Birmingham scored a run in their half of the inning and then two more in the 3rd to tie the game up. The two teams then traded a run-scoring inning in the bottom of the 7th and top of the 8th before the Lookouts were able to grab the lead in the top of the 10th. The Barons were unable to score in their half and Chattanooga moved to 4-0 on the year.

Alexander Vargas has been playing professionally in the US since 2019 when he was a 17-year-old. It was not until this game that he’d ever reached base safely five times in one game.

Carlos Jorge got on base three times in the game, stole his 3rd base of the season, and made a highlight reel catch in the bottom of the 9th on a full out dive – catching the ball while in the air. He’s hitting .389 so far, going 7-18.

Leo Balcazar is out to a hot start, too. He’s gone 7-15 (.467) with two walks and two extra-base hits in four games to begin the year.

Shane Sasaki had a well rounded day as he notched three hits, had a steal, scored a run, and drove in a run. He’s 5-11 (.455) this year.

The Dayton Dragons lost 6-2. Box Score

Game Notes

Jacob Edwards came out of the bullpen and was dealing for the Dragons in his first outing of the year. He struck out eight batters in his 4.0 innings and set a new career high in the process. Last season with Daytona he had six strikeouts in two different games, which was his previous high.

This was not the most well played game for Dayton as they combined for four errors on the night and also walked eight batters.

The Daytona Tortugas lost 6-5. Box ScoreTyson Lewis went 1-5 with a double, run, and an RBI.Bernard Moon went 1-4 with a walk, 2 steals (2), and 2 runs.Jacob Friend went 1-2 with 3 walks, a double, a steal, a run, and an RBI.Kyle Henley went 1-2 with a walk, HBP, and a steal (2).Drew Davies went 1-4.Dominic Scheffler allowed a run in 2.2 innings of relief with a walk and 3 strikeouts.Deivi Villafana was charged with 3 unearned runs in 2.0 innings with a walk and 4 strikeouts.Brady Afthim threw 2.0 perfect innings with 3 strikeouts.

Game Notes

After Daytona scored two runs in the top of the 6th to tie the game up at 3-3, Lakeland countered with a 3-run bottom of the 6th to take the lead right back. The Tortugas would score two runs in the 7th to make it a 1-run game. In the bottom of the 9th they had the tying run on second base with two outs but a strikeout ended the game.

Bernard Moon and Arnaldo Lantigua both kept their on-base streaks alive for the season (four games).

Tyson Lewis has had a hit and a run scored in each of the last three games.

It was a struggle for Sheng-En Lin in his 2026 debut. He couldn’t make it out of the 2nd inning where he recorded just one out. He struck out the side in the 1st but walked four batters in the 2nd and threw 34 pitches before he was replaced on the mound.
