The Rockies swept the Astros with their 9-1 win Wednesday, their first sweep at home since May 2024 against the Rangers.
DENVER — On a partly cloudy afternoon day at Coors Field, just over 15,000 baseball fans piled into 20th and Blake for the final game of a three-game series between the Astros and the Rockies.Â
Michael Lorenzen started for the Rockies, going 5.2 innings on 100 pitches, striking out four batters and giving up only one earned run. The veteran pitcher bounced back after his home debut against the Phillies, when he gave up seven runs in the first inning of Colorado’s home opener.
“We still got a lot of work… I think we’re setting ourselves up to continue to get better, to compete each and every day that we show up — I think we’re going to play a good baseball game…” Lorenzen said of the Rockies getting to .500 on the season.
Colorado posted a five-run second inning that provided plenty of room for the Rockies to win.
The eight-run win capped off a series sweep against Houston and marks the club’s fourth consecutive win to put them at 6-6 on the season.Â
2025 Silver Slugger Award winner Hunter Goodman blasted home a solo shot, his second home run of the season, in the fourth inning off Astros pitcher Enyel De Los Santos.Â
Zach Agnos earned the save for Colorado, giving up just one hit in 3.1 innings.

The announced crowd of 15,189 was a franchise-low for a home game without pandemic restrictions.
Next up for the Rockies is the San Diego Padres on the road in a four-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 p.m.Â
