The Los Angeles Dodgers maintained their spot at the top of ESPN’s power rankings following a 5-1 road trip.
LA took a series sweep against the Washington Nationals and claimed two wins in three games against the Toronto Blue Jays in a World Series rematch to keep their spot at the top and extend their lead in the NL West.
“The beat goes on for the Dodgers, who are lapping the field in the standings and at the plate,” ESPN’s Jesse Rogers wrote. “They are four home runs clear of the next best team, nearly 20 points higher in batting average and have the highest slugging percentage in the game.
“Andy Pages might be the best storyline among all those L.A. stars. He’s hitting over .400 with six extra-base hits already. Even the Dodgers’ backup catcher, Dalton Rushing, is hitting balls all over the place, going 6-for-9 at the plate with three home runs. That includes a 4-for-4 night with two long balls against the Blue Jays on Monday. Only one team showed up for that World Series rematch.”

The Dodgers won the first five games of their road trip, and they did so convincingly. They scored 10 or more runs in three of those five games, and only allowed four runs in their sole loss of the stretch.
Their pitching struggled at points, but never allowed more than six runs across any of the games.
Shohei Ohtani finally came online during the series against the Nationals, hitting his first—and second—home runs of the season in the Nation’s capital. He added a third north of the border, and seems to be back on track in 2026.
What’s Next for the Dodgers?
The Dodgers are heading into a six-game home stand after their off day Thursday, and will hope to bounce back after their loss to close their last series.
They have a three-game series against the AL West-leading Rangers from Friday to Sunday, followed by a series against the New York Mets.
LA has the largest division lead of any team in MLB after 12 games, leading the second-place Padres by three games. They’ll look to further extend that lead this week despite missing some key players.
How long do you think the Dodgers will stay at the top?
