The Chattanooga Lookouts won 6-2. Box Score

Game Notes

Birmingham had a perfect game going with one out in the 5th inning, but Ruben Ibarra ruined that with a home run. Michael Trautwein followed up with one of his own to make it 2-0. They would score four runs in the 8th and seemingly put the game away but the Barons scored two in the bottom of the inning and had two men on but couldn’t get any closer than that.

The win moved to Chattanooga to 6-0. That’s the best record in minor league baseball – tied with Lakeland in the Florida State League. Eugene, a High-A team in the Northwest League is also undefeated, but they are 5-0.

Alexander Vargas kept his average on the year at .500. He’s 9-18 with a triple, two walks, and two strikeouts.

Leo Balcazar remained hot, too. He’s now 9-23 (.391) with two doubles, a home run, seven runs batted in, four walks, and five strikeouts in his six games played.

Carlos Jorge was placed on the 7-day injured list prior to the game. Last night he was hit in the head by a 93 MPH fastball and exited the game after he initially remained in the game to run the bases.

The Dayton Dragons won 7-4. Box Score

Game Notes

Dayton trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the 4th inning but put up three runs and tied things up. Two innings later they would rally for a 4-run inning to take the lead and hold onto it.

Yerlin Confidan drove in four runs for the first time since June 24th of last season.

Things keep rolling for Alfredo Duno. With his hit and two walks he’s now hitting .333/.522/.533 through the first five games of the season. Duno has seven walks and four strikeouts.

Ryan McCrystal has only played in three games with Dayton so far but he’s gotten on base twice in each of those games.
