This weekend, the Atlanta Braves, one of baseball’s most recognizable franchises, will co-headline the first edition of Sunday Night Baseball to air live on NBC this season. NBC Sports will be live from Truist Park in Georgia on Sunday night as Atlanta hosts the Cleveland Guardians, live on NBC and Peacock.
But the Braves aren’t waiting until Sunday to stir up some baseball buzz. Earlier this month, the club announced their latest City Connect uniforms, and they pay tribute to the basic cable boom that made the team a national institution.

The references and Easter eggs in the Atlanta Braves new City Connect uniforms
An Atlanta Braves hat.
Announced on April 7, the Atlanta Braves’ 2026 City Connect uniforms are a throwback in more ways than one. The caps feature a new version of the classic lower-case “a” logo adopted by the team in the 1970s, while the jerseys are the same light blue adopted (usually as a road uniform) by the Braves in the 1980s, with the “Atlanta” script across the chest. These unis hearken back to the days when the legendary Hank Aaron was slugging it out in Atlanta, but those aren’t the only throwback features on these uniforms.
Beginning in the late 1970s, the Braves were lucky enough to benefit from Atlanta media mogul Ted Turner’s new TBS “SuperStation,” a basic cable network still operating today. Because Turner’s broadcasting home was Atlanta, and TBS was expanding into national cable markets, the Braves became a fixture of TBS weeknight programming, taking them from a regional team to a nationwide spectacle.

That dominance continued through the 1980s and the 1990s, when players like Chipper Jones and Greg Maddux helped build the club into a World Series-winning powerhouse. In tribute to the original TBS SuperStation and what it did to raise the team’s profile, the City Connect jerseys also feature an “ATL” logo on the left sleeve that hearkens back to the original TBS graphics.
And best of all for Braves fans, you can purchase your own City Connect jerseys and hats right now at the team’s official shop.
