Los Angeles rookie right-hander George Klassen left Saturday’s game in the third inning with a bruised right index finger after a rough outing. The Reds improved to 4-4 at home with Saturday’s victory and have an off day on Monday before continuing their homestand with a three-game set against the San Francisco Giants opening on Tuesday.

Nathaniel Lowe’s bases-clearing double keyed a four-run first inning for Cincinnati, which cruised to a 7-3 victory on Saturday. Spencer Steer homered in the second inning while five relievers combined for five shutout innings after starter Brandon Williamson left after four frames having walked six and allowed three runs on three hits. Elly De La Cruz finished with three of the Reds’ nine hits on the day.

Klassen gave up five runs on five hits with five walks in two-plus innings, taking his first MLB loss. Mike Trout stroked a two-run double in the fourth inning before the Angels’ offense mustered just two hits the rest of the way. Zach Neto had two hits and Nolan Schanuel produced an RBI groundout in the third.

Left-hander Andrew Abbott (0-1) makes his fourth start of the season for Cincinnati on Sunday, coming in with a 3.18 ERA and 1.412 WHIP in 17 innings. Right-hander José Soriano (3-0) looks to continue his dominant work for the Angels, entering Sunday with an MLB-best 0.45 ERA to go with a 0.650 WHIP with 21 strikeouts in 20 innings.
