New contract offer for Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette announced

The Toronto Blue Jays have yet to figure out what they plan on doing with Bo Bichette but the latest update gave fans an idea of how much they would have to pay to keep in Toronto during free agency.
Bichette has been surrounded by trade rumors for years now and since he is now in the final year of his contract, it looks like it might actually happen if the Blue Jays do no make him an extension offer.

Bichette is currently in the final year of his contract and despite some rough defensive numbers, he has greatly improved at the plate since last seasons struggles.
According to reports, it looks like if Bichette ends up making it to free agency, he should be able to land a deal for around $147 million on a seven year deal according to Sportac which would pay him an average salary of $21 milliuon per season.
Bichette is a two-time All-Star and has led the American League in hits twice in his career. Spotrac projects him to earn a seven-year, $147 million deal as a free agent. -Mohammed
After signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr to the largest contract in Blue Jays history earlier this season, the Blue Jays might not be looking to spend that much on Bichette which does not make much sense.
If they end up having to replace Bichette, they will surely have to spend around $150 million or maybe a bit less to try and land a player of that caliber.
The Blue Jays might have a chance at signing Bichette for a smaller term or a bit less money if they make him an offer soon but if they let things get to free agency they will have to compete with everyone else’s offers.
Many thought that the Blue Jays learned from their mistakes with Guerrero since they let that negotiation go on for too long and ended up spending more than expected which is why if they plan on keeping Bichette, they better act on it sooner than later.
