The Boston Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-3 on Sunday, April 12th as Willson Contreras and Trevor Story each had 4 hits and Brayan Bello pitched into the 7th inning.
Contreras hit a 2-run homer, his 3rd of the season in the 1st inning to give Boston a early 2-0 lead. He finished with 3 singles to go with the homer, driving in 3 runs.
Trevor Story was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, driving in a pair of runs.
Jarren Duran had a double and drove in 3 runs.
Marcello Mayer, Connor Wong and Ceddanne Rafaela each singled.
Boston had a total of 12 hits.
On the mound Bello evened his record to 1-1 with the win. He pitched 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs, striking out 2 and walking a pair.
Danny Coulombe retired the final batter in the 7th inning. Zach Kelly pitched the 8th and 9th innings allowing a homer and 1 run, striking out 2.
