WICHITA — The Optimist Jaguars 8U saved their most dramatic performance for last, rallying from a six‑run deficit to defeat Kansas Blue Sox – Keith 8U, 10–8, on Sunday and capture the Angels‑4‑Autism USSSA fastpitch tournament championship.

Facing an early hole in the title game, the Jaguars showed resilience and composure, battling back with timely hitting, steady defense, and a game‑changing rally to secure the tournament crown.

Kansas Blue Sox–Keith jumped out quickly in the championship game, scoring six runs in the top of the first inning.

Optimist began chipping away in the second inning when Clara Bauer launched a solo home run, providing an early spark and keeping the Jaguars within striking distance.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Trailing late, Optimist erupted for six runs on seven hits to flip the game and take a 10–7 lead. Molly Minnich delivered the biggest swing of the inning, ripping a two‑run triple that ignited the comeback and energized the Jaguars’ dugout.

Defensively, Optimist was flawless, committing no errors and turning a crucial double play by Aubrie Fox and Sadie Larchick.

The Jaguars finished the championship game with 15 hits. Julia Runyan went a perfect 3‑for‑3 at the plate, while Fox and Minnich each drove in two runs. Vivian Vilkanskas, Bauer, Rachel Aikens, and Ellie Bosse all collected multiple hits, contributing to the balanced offensive attack.

The championship capped a dominant overall weekend for the Jaguars, who rolled through tournament play behind consistent offense and clean defense.
