Kodai Senga enjoyed an excellent start to his career with the New York Mets after coming to the MLB in 2023. However, the 33-year-old right-hander has struggled on the mound following a spell on the IL with a hamstring injury last year. Things have not improved at all with Senga going through a torrid time with the Mets in the opening weeks of the 2026 campaign.

MLB analyst Sal Licata feels the New York Mets should get Kodai Senga off their roster, with the team making a disastrous start to the season as well. Licata blasted the performance from the Japanese pitcher for his miserable outing against the Chicago Cubs on Friday. He feels Senga will not be effective even if the Mets move him to a reliever role.

“The Mets needed Senga to give them a chance in the game. And not only did he get them out to a four-nothing hole, they actually bounced back and scored some runs,” Licata said for SNY. “What does he do? Goes right back out there and gives up a two-run homer.
