The St. Louis Cardinals powered their way to a 7-5 win over the Houston Astros on Saturday night, using timely home runs and steady pitching to secure their fourth straight victory.
Masyn Winn led the charge with a two-run homer in the third inning, extending the Cardinals’ lead to 4-1. José Fermín added a solo shot in the sixth, and Alec Burleson followed with a towering home run in the seventh to give St. Louis a comfortable cushion.
Nolan Gorman contributed two hits and two RBI, while Jordan Walker extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a fifth-inning single.
Houston struck first on Yordan Alvarez’s major league-leading ninth home run in the opening inning, but the Cardinals quickly answered and took control. The Astros threatened late, highlighted by Shay Whitcomb’s three-run homer in the ninth, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.
Andre Pallante earned the win, allowing just one run on three hits over five innings while striking out five. Riley O’Brien recorded the final two outs to pick up his sixth save.
With the win, St. Louis continues its hot streak heading into Sunday’s series finale.
