No doubt one of the most viral moments of this year’s MLB season came when a Pittsburgh Pirates cameraman caught second-year outfielder Jake Mangum tossing a ball into the stands between innings at PNC Park. He aimed for a kid wearing a Paul Skenes jersey, and the kid made a great catch. But instead of keeping the ball, he immediately handed it to his little sister, who hugged him so hard it melted hearts around the world.

Here are just some of the comments on social media:

Jomo B.: 🥹 Darn allergies got my eyes watering

Justin M.: First of all, good catch kid… secondly, never stop being that big brother 💪🏿

Michael F.: She hugged him like he was her hero.

@EverydayResell: That little handoff just melted the whole stadium. Nothing beats seeing a kid turn a big league souvenir into the best sister gift ever.

@deepakThamizhK: Everyone’s watching the catch, nobody’s noticing the kid didn’t even hesitate before giving it away. That instinct? You can’t coach that, seriously.

@StreetClashKing: That’s pure sibling love ❤️ Baseball delivering the best wins off the field too.

@THEMarkEdwards1: And just like that, I became a Jake Mangum fan. Players like this will ensure the continuation of this game. Well done.

According to Yahoo Sports, Mangum later told 93.7 The Fan that he noticed the girl wearing his jersey between innings. “I’m a new player here. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen my jersey in the stadium. That was pretty cool.” He added, “I knew they were all related because when they caught it, you saw the dad going like ‘yes, yes, yes.’ That was awesome. Moments like that, stuff like that, it’s what it’s all about.”

He is right. As a parent of kids around the same ages, my son is 9 and my daughter is 6, this would have made my year. User @PrimeWallner commented on MLB’s post: “Dad in the back knew he succeeded as a parent.”

Not only were the parents proud, but so was Mangum’s mother. She reshared MLB’s post and wrote, “My mama heart is so full… thanking the Lord every day on this journey with Jake! The sweetest video of this precious family!”

The kids’ aunt also chimed in: “My niece and nephew!!! And he DID make their day!!”

In reality, this moment between the player and the siblings made everyone’s day, especially mine.
