Junior Dillon McCarthy went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, but the Oregon baseball team lost to Monona Grove 9-2 in a Badger Large Conference game on Tuesday, April 21, at Fireman’s Park in Cottage Grove.

McCarthy came through with an RBI single in the top of the third inning to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

The Silver Eagles rallied with a five-run bottom of the fourth.

McCarthy hit a solo home run to right field in the sixth. The Panthers used four pitchers. Matthew Schultz tossed 1 â…” shutout innings in relief. Daniel Neis also pitched one shutout inning and struck out two.

Oregon then lost a rematch against Monona Grove 6-0 on Thursday, April 23, at Zach Field.

With the losses, Oregon drops to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the Badger Large.

Calvin Ritter had two of the Panthers’ three hits in a loss to the Silver Eagles on April 23, at Zach Field.

Monona Grove scored three runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.

Borchardt added a single for the Panthers. Oregon’s Tony Perkins pitched a complete game and gave up six earned runs on 10 hits. He struck out six and walked two.
