Tennessee and Cincinnati baseball will face each other for a 28th time Saturday. The Vols (44-16) are a No. 14 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, while Cincinnati is a No. 3 seed in the Knoxville Regional.

Tennessee and Cincinnati both won opening games Friday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium, advancing to Saturday’s winner’s bracket. First pitch between the Vols and Bearcats is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT and can be watched on SEC Network+.

Tennessee leads the baseball series, 22-5, against Cincinnati all time. The series dates to April 21, 1906. The Vols and Bearcats last played in 2018 during Tony Vitello’s first season as Tennessee’s head coach.

Tennessee completed a three-game series sweep, March 9-11, 2018, at Marge Schott Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Vols won the series opener, 3-2 in 12 innings. Freshman left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet made his first career start in Tennessee’s win at Cincinnati.

Crochet pitched eight innings and recorded eight strikeouts, while totaling 100 pitches. He allowed five hits, two runs (one earned) and zero walks against 31 batters.

Crochet was selected by the White Sox in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft (No. 11 overall). The former Vol was traded to Boston ahead of the 2025 MLB season.
