The Texas Rangers are moving forward without a veteran outfielder.

The team announced the release of Kevin Pillar on Saturday. Pillar had been designated for assignment on May 25 when the Rangers officially placed Joc Pederson on the 10-day injured list and called up Alejandro Osuna.

When the Rangers DFA’d Pillar, they had seven days to trade, release or outright the outfielder to the minor leagues.

Pillar appeared in 20 games for the Rangers this season, originally signing a minor league deal with the team that included a spring training invite. Pillar slashed .209/.209/.256 with one RBI during his short Texas stint.
