The end of May is upon us, and the Colorado Rockies still sit at just nine wins. Antonio Senzatela enters the game with nine losses on his record. Will the Rockies win their tenth game before he loses his tenth? Let’s find out.

Senzatela (1-9, 6.50 ERA) has allowed at least four earned runs in eight of his last nine starts, the one exception being a six inning, one run effort against the Washington Nationals (that game also led to Senza’s sole win). That’s not a great trend, but it’s not all bad news. Senzatela has typically pitched well against the Mets, owning a 2.70 ERA in six career appearances (five starts) against them. It’s been a minute since then – his last outing being all the way back in 2023 – but we’ll see if those previous positive results hold on Saturday.

Kodai Senga (5-3, 1.46 ERA), meanwhile, has been excellent. He’s making his tenth start of the season and has yet to allow more than three runs in a start. Senga’s offspeed pitches, specifically his forkball, have been spectacular weapons and have kept batters off-balance consistently. The Rockies will need to be disciplined in their approach against the former All-Star if they’re going to yield results – but that’s been easier said than done this season.

Following the somewhat surprising decision to send Michael Toglia to Triple-A Albuquerque in favor of Keston Hiura, Kyle Farmer will be the starting first baseman today. We’ll see iof Hiura makes his season debut in the game’s later stages. Sam Hilliard, himself only recently recalled to the Majors, gets the start in left field after hitting a home run in last night’s loss.

For those of you interested in City Connects, the Mets will don theirs this afternoon.
