Andres Gimenez is not exactly known for his power at the plate, but the Toronto Blue Jays infielder showed out during Monday night’s series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

For the first time in his career in the big leagues, Gimenez had a multi-homer game. He got his first one in the Rays game in the second inning with a three-run blast, taking Tampa Bay starter Drew Rasmussen’s four-seamer deep. That home run put Toronto on the board after going scoreless in the first inning and cut the Blue Jays’ deficit down to two runs, 5-3.
Gimenez sent one deep again in the seventh inning with a two-run home run off a slider from Rays reliever Ian Seymour to bring the score to 8-5, in favor of Tampa Bay.
Here is a video of his second home run of the contest.
It has also been nearly 10 years since the last time Gimenez had a multi-home run game at any level.

“Career game No. 707 is the first multi-homer game for #BlueJays Andrés Giménez. It is his first overall since June 4, 2018, when he hit a pair in the Florida State League for the St. Lucie Mets over the Tampa Tarpons, 6-2,” MLB analyst Ryan M. Spaeder shared via a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Unfortunately for Gimenez, his memorable individual effort ultimately went for naught as the Blue Jays took an 8-5 loss. He went 2-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored while striking out twice.
So far in the 2026 MLB season, Gimenez is batting .252/.275/.422 with five home runs and 23 RBIs through 135 at-bats.
