ATLANTA — Could another Cincinnati Reds hitter be headed to the injured list?

The Reds were expected to find out early Wednesday after third baseman Noelvi is examined again for pain he’s been experiencing in his left oblique area in recent days.

Marte apparently aggravated the sore area taking batting practice Tuesday and was scratched from the lineup 15 minutes before game time.

“He evidently got hit by a pitch in Louisville (before his April 17 recall), so it had been kind of bothering him, but he had been playing through it,” manager Terry Francona said. “Then he made a throw the other day and it kind of grabbed at him. But he didn’t really say anything. He just wanted to play.

“Then when he was hitting in the cage before the game it grabbed at him.”

Marte is hitting .306 since that April 17 callup with eight extra-base hits and an .897 OPS.

But he’s just 1 for his last 10.

“So we’re going to get him looked at (Wednesday) morning,” Francona said.
