Funkhouser was playing in Mexico after missing nearly three seasons due to injuries. He has 70 career big league games with the Detroit Tigers.

The right-hander was drafted by the Dodgers as the 35th overall pick in the 2015 draft, but the two parties never reached an agreement to sign.

Funkhouser has a career 4.20 ERA with 75 strikeouts and 1.506 WHIP across 85.2 innings pitched.
