Bo Bichette launched the 100th home run of his career on Saturday against the Athletics, making history as the first shortstop in Toronto Blue Jays franchise history to hit the milestone.

Blue Jays star shortstop Bo Bichette makes history on Saturday.

Sam Connon from Fastball On Si writes that Blue Jays shortstop has found his power stroke again in 2025, capping off a scorching week by etching his name into the history books.

“Bichette hit a home run against the Texas Rangers on Wednesday, then did the same on Thursday. After notching two singles on Friday, the 27-year-old came through with yet another home run in the bottom of the second inning of Saturday’s showdown with the Athletics.” -Connon

That home run marked the 100th of Bichette’s career, making him the first shortstop in Blue Jays history to reach that milestone.

So far this season, Bichette is hitting .279 with seven home runs, 32 RBI’s, four stolen bases, and a .761 OPS. Up to 2023, his career averages stood at a .299 batting average, .826 OPS, 27 home runs, 96 RBI’s, 16 stolen bases, and a 5.4 WAR per 162 games.

Toronto edged out an 8-7 victory on Saturday, fueled by Bichette’s early home run and George Springer’s two later blasts. With that win, the Blue Jays have now strung together four straight victories and are poised to complete a sweep of the A’s on Sunday.
