The Adams Central Jets led the Whitko Wildcats in their Class 2A Sectional 36 semifinal Saturday by two runs after four innings, but broke the game open with a seven-run fifth inning. Adams Central held on to win in Monroe, 17-7.
Hayden Bluhm started the fifth-inning scoring for Adams Central with a single that drove in two runs.
Jami Roach made it 12-7 with a single of his own. But an error in the immediate aftermath of the base hit allowed two more Jets to make it home.
Carson Ross followed that up with an RBI single to give the Jets a 15-7 lead.
The Jets went up by nine when Max Byerly drew a walk with the bases loaded.
Adams Central tacked on one more in the sixth. That run allowed them to put the game away via the 10-run rule by keeping the Wildcats scoreless in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Adams Central will take on Bluffton in the sectional championship game in Monroe on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Bluffton defeated Bishop Luers 4-3 in the second game of the day Saturday.
