Fort Madison High School lost on the road Friday dropping a pair of non conference softball games to Davenport North 7-3 and 5-0.

Fort Madison had five hits total in the doubleheader. Ava Fuget had two of them in the first game, both extra-base hits, and a single, the only Bloodhounds hit, in the second game. She cracked a run-scoring triple in the fifth inning then scored on a passed ball to bring the Bloodhounds within 5-3. She had a double in the seventh inning but was stranded on base.

Kylie Lumino was hit by a pitcher to start the fourth inning and Lucia Darnell singled. Gathers grounded into a double play but Lumina’s courtesy runner Zoey Counts scored on it for a 3-1 deficit.

Darnell was the hard luck losing pitcher. She issued no walks, struck out six with four runs earned of the five scored on 10 hits.

Fort Madison (1-3) hosts Keokuk Monday and Fairfield Thursday. Wednesday it goes to Centerville.
