HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KATV) — The Hot Springs’ Majestic Park baseball complex will soon be home to a commemorative baseball mural just before the anticipated 2025 Babe Ruth League World Series.

According to a release, the mural will depict baseball legends Babe Ruth, Henry “Hank” Aaron, international star Shohei Ohtani, and a young baseball player.

The installation project will begin June 9.

“The images cement our slogan for Majestic Park, which is, ‘Where Baseball’s Future Meets Baseball’s Past’,” Majestic Park General Manager Derek Phillips said in announcing the planned start of work on the mural. “It celebrates our baseball history showing Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth along with current baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani, who played high school baseball in Hanamaki, Japan, Hot Springs’ Sister City.”

Fiber optic network company HyperFiber assisted in the process of acquiring the mural.

“We thank HyperFiber for paying for this beautiful mural as part of their continuing commitment to Majestic Park,” Phillips said, “and we also thank Champions Christian College, which owns the building, for letting us use their facility to display it.”

From August 7 until August 16, the site where Ruth and Aaron used to play will welcome family, friends, visitors, and competitors to the grand competition.

Hot Springs slated to host 2025 Babe Ruth League’s World Series for 14-year-olds

“The Babe played many games and practiced many times at Majestic Park in the early years of the 20th Century. Hammering Hank Aaron played at Majestic Park in the Negro League World Series on October 1, 1952. The mural shows him wearing the cap and uniform of the Indianapolis Clowns, who played the Birmingham Black Barons,” said Phillips. “Ohtani’s high school team, led by his legendary coach Hiroshi Sasaki, has visited and played baseball in Hot Springs and plans are underway to bring them back to play at Majestic Park.”
