Chicago Cubs star right fielder Kyle Tucker is currently sidelined with a jammed finger after an awkward slide into second base on Sunday, June 1.

Fortunately, this does not appear to be a long-term injury, as Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters that Tucker will probably only be sidelined for “another day or two” on June 3 (via Cubs beat writer Andy Martínez).

Counsell also confirmed that there are no plans for an IL stint at this time.

As Tucker rests his finger, OptaSTATS revealed that he’s also made baseball history through his first 57 games with the Cubbies.

“Kyle Tucker is the only player in the live-ball era (since 1920) to record at least 60 hits, 40 walks, 25 extra-base hits and 15 steals in under 60 games with a single team,” OptaSTATS noted on June 3.

Which puts Tucker in a class of his own.

Playing for a new contract in 2025, Tucker has been absolutely locked in all year, and he’s rewarded Chicago for trading for him over the offseason.

With a .284 batting average, .394 on-base percentage, .524 slugging and .918 OPS, Tucker finds himself ranked within the top 15 of the entire MLB in three out of those four key categories (all but batting average). Making him one of the more well-rounded stars in all of baseball.

This unique achievement reinforces that fact, as Tucker has already displayed plus contact, power, plate vision and speed in 2025.

It also puts him in the MVP conversation, as the MLB’s official X account revealed that Tucker is currently polling fifth-highest in the early National League MVP voting on June 3.
