Just when the Los Angeles Angels thought they’d have a (mostly) healthy lineup with their best players, the baseball gods had to intervene.

Less than a week after three-time AL MVP Mike Trout rejoined the lineup, the Angels lost fellow outfielder Jorge Soler to a tight groin on Wednesday afternoon. Soler recorded a hit and a walk before leaving the Angels’ 11-9 loss to the Boston Red Sox in the third inning.

Matthew Lugo replaced Soler in right field and went 1-for-3 with a strikeout.

Neither Soler nor manager Ron Washington had commented on the injury as of publication.

It’s been a season to mostly forget for Soler, who owns a .216 average, eight home runs, and a .672 OPS over 234 plate appearances. He entered Wednesday with -0.2 bWAR for the inconsistent fourth-place Angels.
