SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Texas Rangers are investigating whether Camp Mystic leadership could face criminal charges over the July 2025 floods that killed 27 girls and counselors, according to The New York Times.

Search warrant affidavits reportedly identify possible offenses including manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. A Kerr County judge approved 14 warrants seeking electronic records from members of the Eastland family, which operated the camp, and other staff.

A state investigation previously found Camp Mystic lacked required written emergency plans and adequate evacuation measures when the Guadalupe River flooded. The deadly flooding killed 119 people in Kerr County.

The camp later decided not to reopen, while families of victims have sued the Texas Department of State Health Services over the camp’s licensing.
