Yikes.
The Texas Rangers’ difficult 2025 season continued Thursday night with a nightmarish walk-off loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.
Up 3-2 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded, reliever Robert Garcia got Taylor Walls to roll into what should have been a routine ground ball out to second baseman Marcus Semien.

Instead, chaos ensued as Josh Smith charged for the grounder and left first base unoccupied. Garcia didn’t reach the base in time to cover for him, leaving Semien with no options as Jonathan Aranda scored the tying run.
Behind him, Junior Caminero rounded third and went for home, beating Semien’s throw home and scoring the winning run to complete the Rays’ three-game sweep.
