Hey, this seems familiar.
And it should! It was about this time last week that the Mets and Rockies locked horns. That contest saw the Mets secure the win fairly easily, but that was then.
After all, your Colorado Rockies are more motivated than ever. On the heels of their first road sweep in what seems like ages, the Rox have a chance to turn their winning streak to four with a series-opening dub on Friday night.
Of course, that will largely depend on how Antonio Senzatela’s (1-10, 7.14 ERA) outing goes. Last week’s effort against these Mets resulted in seven runs allowed in four innings, so there’s certainly some room for improvement.
Interestingly, though, Senzatela will not be starting the game. Instead, the Rockies will employ Ryan Rolison (0-0, 4.50 ERA) in an opener role. It’s the first time Colorado has used an opener this season – let’s see how it goes!
Kodai Senga (6-3, 1.60 ERA), meanwhile, did Kodai Senga things last time out. He allowed two runs and just two hits in his 6 1⁄3 innings of work. Friday will mark his first career start at Coors Field, so we’ll see what kind of adjustments he’ll make in his first foray into pitching at elevation.
Let’s stop burying the lede, though, and talk about the newest young star to make his way to the Majors. Ryan Ritter, having bashed his way through Triple-A Albuquerque, will make his debut this evening. He’s set to start at shortstop and is batting sixth in the lineup. What does the electrifying newcomer have in store for the Coors faithful? Let’s find out together!
