The move comes as a surprise given Gonsolin returned to the rotation just a few weeks prior.

Another starter has fallen to injury in 2025 as Gonsolin will join Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Roki Sasaki on the IL. The news of the right-hander’s injury is crushing, especially since Gonsolin missed nearly 20 months since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2023.
The 31-year-old entered spring training as one of three starting pitchers competing for the fifth spot in the rotation. While Gonsolin was favorite to be the Dodgers’ No. 5 starter, he then sustained a back injury that caused him to miss the first month of the 2025 season.
Now, just a few weeks later, the right-hander is returning to the IL with a concerning injury.
The amount of pitching injuries the Dodgers have dealt with in recent years is simply staggering. With Gonsolin landing on the IL, the rotation is left with Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Dustin May and Clayton Kershaw as the team’s staple starters.
