The Texas Rangers will be without a veteran outfielder for at least a few days.

The club placed outfielder Kevin Pillar (back strain) on the 10-day injured list ahead of Wednesday’s road game against the Boston Red Sox. Pillar’s IL stint is retroactive to May 4.

With Pillar out, the club is recalling Ezequiel Duran from Triple-A Round Rock.

Pillar has appeared in 18 games for the Rangers this season, posting a .237 batting average with two doubles and one RBI. The first day he’s eligible to return is May 14.

According to The Dallas Morning News’ Shawn McFarland, it’s unlikely Duran makes it to Boston in time for Wednesday’s matchup.
