KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Yankees’ infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. exited Tuesday night’s game at Kauffman Stadium due to neck tightness, according to the team.
Chisholm was shaken up on a sixth inning steal of third base, when Royals’ third baseman Maikel Garcia’s glove hand came down on to Chisholm’s helmet while trying to apply the tag.

After playing one more defensive inning at third base and striking out in one more at-bat, Chisholm (1-for-4, double) was replaced defensively by Oswald Peraza, with the Yankees leading 10-2 entering the last of the seventh inning. They ended winning by that score.
Back at third base to accommodate veteran DJ LeMahieu at second base, Chisholm’s growing pains at his relatively new position continued – especially on a sixth inning, two-out grounder by Salvador Perez.
Chisholm cut in front of shortstop Anthony Volpe, who had the easier play on the not-fleet-footed Perez and made an off-balance throwing error, putting runners at the corners.

But Yanks’ starter Max Fried retired the next batter, Mark Canha, to end the inning.

Chisholm was just activated from the injured list last week, after being sidelined just over a month due to an oblique strain.
